Visitation held for Brian Thomas Murphy

Chesterton resident Brian Thomas Murphy died unexpectedly on July 3, 2010 at his home. He was 49.

Born Feb. 19, 1961 in Norfolk, Va., he was the son of Thomas J. Murphy and Gay G. Murphy of Chesterton, Woodbridge, Conn., and West Falmouth, Mass.

As a child, Brian grew up in Woodbridge with his sister Shannon Murphy and attended Amity Regional High School and Fairfield University. He was a champion tennis player through high school and college, and he played numerous other sports as well. He lived in multiple locations in New England,eventually settling in Chesterton.

Brian was an avid tennis player, computer genius and well-known artist. He loved the ocean, Cape Cod and all things with nature.

He is survived by his parents, Thomas Murphy and Gay Murphy of Chesterton; sister Shannon Murphy of Los Angeles, Calif.; girlfriend Kate Gillio; niece Kara Anne Rodenhizer; nephews Cubby Rodenhizer and Tommy Rodenhizer; and great-nephew, Aiden Stampfli.

Visitation and prayers were today, Tuesday, July 6 at 11 a.m. at the Edmunds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway,Chesterton. Graveside services will be private.
