Louis J. Solich, the father of a Liberty Township resident, died Sunday,
March 21, 2010. A resident of Merrillville, he was 85.
He is survived by five daughters, Linda (Ed) Lach and Mary (Eric) Veltri,
both of Crown Point, Carol (Jim) Rolfe of Liberty Township, and Janean
Stasak and Sandra Solich, both of Merrillville; two sons, David (Linda)
Solich of Merrillville and Jerry (Gina) Solich of California; 13
grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Violet) Solich of
Merrillville; and a sister, Genevieve Mestrich of Wheatfield.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; a daughter, Barbara; a
great-grandson, David Jr.; a sister, Lucille Solich; and a brother, George
Solich.
Louis was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church and a retired
pipefitter at U.S. Steel with 43 years of service. He proudly served with
the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II.
Services, Rev. Peter J. Muha officiating, are scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
Wednesday, March 24, from the Pruzin Brothers Chapel, 6360 Broadway in
Merrillville; and for 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Consolation Church, 8303 Taft
St. in Merrillville. Burial at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.
Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, at Pruzin
Brothers, with a rosary service at 6 p.m.
