Former Chesterton resident Arnold “Arnie” Ranegar of Mesa, Ariz. passed away
Sunday, May 2, 2010. He was 72.
Born May 30,
1937 in Cannonsberg, Pa., he was the son of Frank and Helen (Popp) Ranegar,
who preceded him in death. On November 21, 1988 in Kauwii, Hawaii, he
married Rose (Multack) Ranegar, who survives of Mesa, Ariz. He is also
survived by his first wife and friend, Elaine Ranegar of Chesterton; sons
Arnie (wife Darcy) Ranegar of Valparaiso, Kenny (Mary Lou) Ranegar of
Chesterton, Anthony (Kimberly) Ranegar of Valparaiso and David (Tammy)
Ranegar of Valparaiso; daughters Sherry (husband David) White of Valparaiso,
Kimberly Anderson (Eddie Otero) of Lake Station and Jane (James) Gayheart of
Michigan City; stepchildren Brian (Michelle), David (Jenny), and Adam
Brzycki; brother Frank (Faye) Ranegar of Harrisburg, Pa.; 24 grandchildren;
and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded
in death by his sister Janet Eichelberger and grandson Michael David.
Arnie enjoyed
life, especially spending time with his family, friends, and his most
faithful companion and sidekick, Jake. He loved music, golf and traveling,
and was an avid Chicago sports fan. Arnie was a 1955 graduate of Swatara
Township High School in Harrisburg, Pa. He was a retired sheetmetal worker
for Local 20.
Funeral services
will be held on Saturday, May 8 at 10 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home,
517 Broadway, Chesterton with Rev. Frederick Hoover officiating. Cremation
will be performed by Heritage Crematory in Portage. Visitation will be held
on Friday, May 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
