Chesterton resident Virginia L. Hubbard passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010 in
Chesterton. She was 83.
Born November 1, 1926 in Buffalo, N.Y., she was the daughter of Frank and
Helen (Delano) Grant, who preceded her in death. On September 16, 1950, she
married James Hubbard, who survives in Chesterton.
Also surviving are sons, Douglas Hubbard of Chesterton, Richard (wife
Jacqueline) Hubbard of Madison, Wis., Matthew (Theresa) Hubbard of Palmetto,
Fla., and William Hubbard of Cape Haze, Fla.; daughter Virginia “Ginger”
(husband Tim) Scott of Chesterton; brother Leo Grant of Depew, N.Y.; sister
Rhea Mahaney of West Seneca, N.Y.; and grandchildren Erika Hubbard, Kelsey
Scott and Logan Scott.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Gallagher and Monica Siwy.
Virginia formerly worked for the Duneland School system in Food Service.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and enjoyed bowling.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 12 at 10 a.m. at
St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet, Chesterton, with Father James
Meade officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 11 from 4 to 8
p.m. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, with a
