Service set for Robert W. Henderson

Robert W. Henderson of Crown Point passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 30, 2010. He was 71.

Bob was a retired teacher and taught Industrial Arts at River Forest High School for seven years and at Chesterton High School for 32 years, as well as Adult Workshop classes at CHS. He worked 25 years at Gate 6 at the Lake County Fair and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Crown Point. Bob loved family, friends, his home and life. He was an avid Red Sox fan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Henderson, and brother, Rev. Charles Henderson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Grace Jean Henderson; children Robyn McGrath (husband Tim), Amy LeDonne (Joe), Ross Henderson (wife Kristin); step-children John McMichael, Karen Mitcheltree (Mark), and Susan Koza (Mark); his mother, Ethel Henderson; sister Liz Washko (Allen); sister-in-law, Rita Henderson; and loving grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Dec. 3 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 2:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 218 S. Court St., Crown Point. Bob will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. to the time of service at 2:30 p.m. Services will terminate at the church with cremation at the Burns Funeral Home Crematory.
