Former Chesterton resident Leopolda M. “Lee” Groszek of Rolling Prairie,
Ind., passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2010 at 10:50 a.m. in Hamilton
Communities, Inc., New Carlisle. She was 82.
She was born Nov. 6, 1928 in Chicago, Ill. to the late Frank & Stella (Krawczyk)
Derengowski. On July 31, 1948 in Michigan City, she married Ted J. Groszek,
who preceded her in death on July 23, 1996.
She is survived by a daughter, Elinor Kreske of Rolling Prairie; son, Donald
Groszek (Mary Ann) of Michigan City; grandchildren Maria Groszek of San
Diego, Calif., Catherine Stout (husband Philip) of Parker, Colo., Leeann
Schwartz (Quentin) of Wilmington, Del., and Michael Groszek (wife Mandi) of
Michigan City; great-grandchildren Nolan and Nathan Groszek, both of
Michigan City; sister, Elaine Pawloski of Michigan City; and nieces Estelle
Pawloski and Sylvia Derengowski, both of Michigan City.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Derengowski.
Mrs. Grozsek was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Otis, Ind. and a
long-time member of the Pines Township Fire Department’s Women’s Auxiliary.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010
at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 101 N. Church St., Otis, with the Rev. Gerald
Schweitzer officiating. A private family burial will be in Greenwood
Cemetery, Michigan City. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10:15
a.m. in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan
City.
