Janet R. Moffitt of Chesterton passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the Horton Hospice Center in Valparaiso. She was 75.

She was born on June 8, 1935 in Chicago to Henry and Jeanette (Merkousko) Koehler, both of whom preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, John Moffitt of Chesterton; daughters Deborah (husband Claude) Brumm of Spring Grove, Ill., and Linda (Ed) Riordan of Buckeye, Ariz.; son John T. (wife Laurie) Moffitt of West Chicago; grandchildren Christine (Ken) Hardy of St. John, Ind., Brian (Wendy) Dunne of Las Vegas, Travis Moffitt and Jessica Moffitt of Carol Stream, Ill. and John Christian Moffitt of West Chicago; and great grandchildren Madison and Kaitlin Hardy of St. John.

She is also preceded in death by her brother, Clayton.

Janet’s favorite past times were sewing, crocheting and gardening.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 3 at 10 a.m. at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton, with Father James Meade officiating. The burial will be held at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, Ill. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. For more information, call 926-1309.
