Michigan City resident James A. Maguire passed away on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010
at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Michigan City. He was 81.
Born on Feb. 22, 1928 in Chicago, he was the son of John Francis and Lena (Neckermann)
Maguire. On Sept. 11, 1954 in Chicago, he married Joan Weber, who survives
in Michigan City.
Also surviving are sons Kevin Maguire (wife Diane Kallgren) of Boulder,
Colo., Patrick Maguire of Westminster, Colo., and Daniel Maguire (Kathy) of
Auburn, Ind.; daughters Kerry Maguire (husband Thomas Stossel) of Belmont,
Mass. and Kathleen Schek (David) of Betheseda, Md.; grandchildren Himena,
Vicu, Karina and Amelia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Michael Maguire.
James worked as a general contractor for Pioneer Lumber in Michigan City and
previously as a planner in central maintenance at Midwest Steel. He was a
member of Queen of all Saints Church and previously a member of St. Patrick
Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was also a member of the
Military Vehicle Preservation Association.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 22 at 11:30 a.m. at the
Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Interment will be in
St. Patrick Catholic Church Cemetery, Chesterton. A visitation will be held
on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial donations may
