Chesterton resident Hazel F. Anderson passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010
at the Waters of Duneland Health Care Center in Chesterton. She was 97.
Born on August 13, 1912 in Batavia, Ill., she was the daughter of John
Alfred and Julia M. (Johnson) Anderson. On Dec. 20, 1932 in Batavia, she
married Nathan David Anderson, who preceded her in death on June 28, 1988.
She is survived by sons Nathan Anderson of Buffalo, Mo. and Robert Anderson
(wife Jacqueline) of Chesterton; daughters Carol Lindquist (husband Tom) of
Chesterton and Joanne Anderson of Michigan City; grandchildren Debra Lenburg,
Juli Pope, Kristin Schultz, Scott Lindquist, John Anderson and Paul James
Anderson; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband Nathan, brothers Harold,
Glenn and Walter Anderson, sisters Marge Martin and Dorothy Vittetow, and
granddaughters Cheryl Pliske and Dawn Rogers.
Hazel was a homemaker, a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, a graduate of
Batavia High School class of 1930 and a former member of the Women of the
Moose, Michigan City Chapter 935.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem
Lutheran Church, 2050 W. 1000 N., Chesterton with Rev. Jane Aicher
officiating. Interment will be in Chesterton Cemetery. A visitation will be
held on Sunday, Jan. 17 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Edmonds & Evans
Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, and on Monday, Jan. 18 from 10 a.m.
until time of service at 11 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to the
Bethlehem Lutheran Church or to the Westchester Neighbors Food Pantry.
