Chesterton resident Eugene Schnarr, formerly of Evansville, Ind., passed
away at his home on Saturday, June 26, 2010. He was 82.
Gene was born on May 28, 1928 in Evansville to Frank and Loretta (Anstett)
Schnarr. He married Beverly Jehle on May 17, 1947, and they recently
celebrated 63 years together.
He is survived by his wife of Chesterton; sons Robert E. Schnarr of South
Gate, Mich. and Rick L. Schnarr of Seattle, Wash.; daughters Karen J.
(husband Jerry) Moore of Evansville, Phyllis K. (Jerry) Wise of Chesterton,
Lynn R. Peters of Chesterton and Debbie J. (Alan) Brown of St. Cloud, Fla.;
13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and four great-great
grandchildren.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; brother Gilbert Boyd; and sister
Mayme Schnarr.
He was a member of St. James West United Methodist Church in Evansville, the
Evansville VFW Post 1114 and the Teamsters Local 215.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 30 at 11 a.m. at the
Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Pastor Larry Starett
will officiate. Burial will be at Chesterton Cemetery. A visitation will be
held on Tuesday, June 29 from 2 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial
