David “Dave” Melchor of Chesterton passed away Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010 at
his home. He was 54.
Born August 14, 1956 in East Chicago, he was the son of Felipe and Maria (Ornelas)
Melchor, who preceded him in death. On July 8, 1995 in Munster, he married
Barbara L. (Winsauer) Melchor, who survives in Chesterton.
Also surviving are sister Irene Cardona (husband Ruperto); brothers Arturo
Melchor and Sergio Melchor; nieces Minerva Martinez (Mike) and Laura
Cardona; nephew Adrian Cardona; great nieces and nephews, Fabian, Jocelyn,
Esmeralda, Amarissa, Mileena and Adrian; mother-in-law Patricia Winsauer;
sister-in-law Sharon (Billy) Ives; and brother-in-law Greg (Val) Winsauer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his uncle Herb Watson.
Dave was a member of St. Stephens Church for 11 years and also served as
Vestry Warden. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Funeral services will be
held on Monday, Dec. 6 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 1360
State St., Hobart, with Father John Blakslee officiating. Visitation will be
held on Sunday, Dec. 5 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517
Broadway, Chesterton. Memorials may be made to Assistance Healthcare, 2520
