Former Chesterton resident Louis “Lou” Meneilly of Jasper, Ind. died at 5:45
a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in
Jasper. He was 71.
Born on August 9, 1938 in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of Andrew and
Dorothy (Geyer) Meneilly. On Sept. 2, 1961, he married Sharilyn Rice, who
survives.
Also surviving are son Scott Meneilly of Jasper; daughter Diann Meneilly
Horney of Jasper; sisters Shirley Babcock of Porter and Andrea Barney of
Valparaiso; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister Bonnie Noteboom.
Lou moved to Jasper in 1978 after working 16 years as an insurance
commercial underwriter. He came to Jasper as a partner in the Krapf-Barley
Agency and was the sole owner of ISU Krapf-Bartley, Inc. Lou was a CPCU and
ARM designee and a recipient of the Don Quixote Lifetime Acheivement Award.
He was a past president of the Muncie Jaycees and a past president of the
Jasper Kiwanis, and served as treasurer of the Jasper Country Club Board for
one year.
Private services
were held at the Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home in Jasper.
