Chesterton resident Mary Ruth May, 85, died Monday, May 3, 2010, at the
Lexington Health Care Center, Orland Park, Ill.
She was born October 29, 1924, in Paducah, Ky., daughter of John Paul Purdy
and Mayme Engliert-Purdy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, August May Jr.
She is survived by her son, Philip (Patricia) May of Frankfort, Ill.; and
three grandchildren, Kelly Cummings, Philip August May and Daniel John May.
She also was preceded in death by her sister Joyce Purdy. Mary Ruth was a
member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Chesterton and a member of the
Delta Gamma Epsilon Sorority.
There will be a private family funeral service Wednesday, May 5, from the
White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St. in Chesterton, with Father James
Meade officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
