Margaret (Sheridan) Wiseman passed away Monday, August 16, 2010 at The Arbors in Michigan City. She was 90.

Margaret was born in Chicago on June 15, 1920 to Philip and Elizabeth (Carr) Sheridan. Her parents both died before she was 2 years old, and she was adopted and raised by her uncle John Sheridan and his wife, Josephine.

Margaret married Marcus H. Greaves in Chicago on Oct. 26, 1940. They resided in Chicago’s Hyde Park and had their first two children, Phil and Alice. In 1948, they moved to Michigan City, where their next two children, Freddy and Mary, were born. Mark died in 1973. Margaret met Al Wiseman in 1975, and they were married in October of that year.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Alphonsus Wiseman; children Philip Greaves of the Phililppines, Dr. Alice Greaves of Chattanooga, Tenn., John Frederick Greaves (wife Lynda) of Concord, Ga., and Mary Miltenberger (husband Edward J.) of Boonville, Ind.; grandchildren Jennie, Aimee, Corey, Kendra, and Ashlee Greaves, Brandon LaVoie, Edward C. She was preceded in death by her parents and by granddaughter Patricia (Greaves) Baughmann.

Margaret loved nature and made many fond memories with her husband Al taking hikes in the Indiana Dunes and along the beach. Together they enjoyed their flowers and tending to the many birds who flocked to their yard. She loved the Chicago White Sox and was proud of her Irish Heritage. “Grandma Fifi” will fondly be remembered for her sweet smile that could light up any room and make you feel special, and her knack for always looking on the bright side.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 411 W. 11th St., Michigan City. Cremation will follow. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church.
