Gloria Penrose of Valparaiso passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010 at her home. She was 68.

She was born May 5, 1942 in Deluth, Minn., to Eino and Wilma (Stedman) Lathi, who preceded her in death. She was married on May 14, 1960 in Chesterton to Virgil F. Penrose Sr., who preceded her in death in 2006.

Gloria is survived by her sons, Lonnie Penrose of Chesterton and Virgil (wife Crystal) Penrose of Valparaiso; daughters, Nanette Penrose, Dawn Penrose, Rebecca Cardona and Lori Cody, all of Valparaiso; daughter-in-law Sandy Penrose of Chesterton; brother Robert Krise of Michigan City; sister Beverly Wiese of Alabama; 18 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Eric and Shawn Penrose.

Gloria was a homemaker and a lifelong area resident. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton with Pastor Phil Needler officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery, Chesterton. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. www.EE-FH.com
