Gaylen E. Richardson of The Pines passed away Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 at 10:17 a.m. in his home. He was 60.

He was born Dec. 27, 1949 in Benton, Ill. to the late Arthur “Glenn” and Patsy (Simpson) Richardson. On Nov. 22, 1969 in Michigan City, he married Margaret “Peggy” Lucas, who survives in The Pines.

Also surviving are his mother, Patsy Richardson of Chesterton; daughter Renee Richardson (husband Anthony Palmieri) of Michigan City; sons Tim Richardson (wife Amy) of Michigan City, William Richardson (Dawn) of Westville; grandchildren Taylor and Kaylee Richardson and Kalin and Jillian Dombkowski; brothers Dennis Richardson of Michigan City, Danny Richardson and Butch Richardson of Chesterton, and Jay Richardson of Florida; and sister Laurie Peterson of Florida.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Scott Richardson, and sisters Cindy Richardson, Midge James and Deborah Richardson.

He was employed for the past 34 years at Arcelor-Mittal in Burns Harbor in the 160th Plate Mill as a roller. He was a member the Pines Twp. Fire Dept, Inc. since 1974. He was also a member of the Indiana Volunteer Fire Association (IVFA) and the United Steel Worker’s Local Union #6787. He really enjoyed his coffee along with fishing and gardening.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City. Burial will follow in Chesterton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel. The Indiana Volunteer Fire Association and the Pine Township Fire Department will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Monday evening in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.
