Chesterton resident Frances J. Carnes passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010 at
her home. She was 86.
Born May 30, 1923 in Summit, Ill., she was the daughter of Steve Kelecich
and Blazina Frances Kelecich, both of whom preceded her in death. On May 10,
1952 at St. Joseph Church in Summit, she married Raymond J. Carnes, who
survives.
Also surviving are daughter, Sharon Carnes of Michigan City; nephews
Richard, Edward, Russel and William Walen and Bradley and Barry Warble; and
nieces Roxanne Warble and Terry Coleman.
Frances is preceded in death by sisters Emma, Catherine, Margaret and Rose.
Frances was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a graduate of Argo
High School. She enjoyed gardening, cooking meals for family gatherings at
holidays and dancing at O’Henry’s Ballroom.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 11 a.m.
from St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 North Calumet Road in Chesterton with
Father James Meade officiating. The burial will follow at St. Patrick
Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 10:45
a.m. at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton.
