Portage resident Donald O. Crizer Sr. passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 in
Portage. He was 87.
Born June 29, 1922 in McCool, Ind., he was the son of Daucy and Emma (Mains)
Crizer, who preceded him in death. He was married to Alice (Sampson) Crizer,
who preceded him in death in 1991.
Donald is survived by his children, Sue Shook (husband Dan) of Chesterton,
Don Crizer (wife Elaine) of Valparaiso, Keith Crizer of Louisville, Ky., and
Greg Crizer of Portage; grandchildren Celeste Hartlmeier, Matt Crizer, Grant
Crizer, Amanda Crowe, Erica Sandner, Hilary Sullivan, Jocelyn Crizer,
Zachary Crizer, Joseph Crizer and Cameron Crizer; and five great
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Daucy Crizer, and sister, ImoJean
Newcom.
Donald was a lifelong area resident and a member of First United Methodist
Church of Portage and the American Legion Post 260. He was a veteran of the
U.S. Army Air Corps. He formerly worked as a supervisor for U.S. Steel.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 20 at 7 p.m. at the Edmonds &
Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, with Pastor
Deb Rousselle officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the
time of service at 7 p.m. Burial will take place on Friday, May 21 at 10
a.m. at McCool Cemetery, Portage. Memorials may be made to the First United
Methodist Church of Portage, 2637 McCool Road, Portage, IN 46368.
