David S. Levi, formerly of Valparaiso, passed away on Saturday, August 7,
2010, in Wisconsin. He was 50.
He is survived by his children Bradley, a senior at Chesterton High School;
Will, a CHS sophomore; and Lena, a 7th grader at Chesterton Middle School.
He is also survived by his mother, Joanne Slater of Kansas; sister Patrice
Swanson (Lee) of Kansas; sister Jennifer Levi of Rhode Island; and nephew
Matthew Swanson of Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his father Roger Levi of McCutcheonville, Ind.
He received his bachelor’s degree from the Art Institute in Chicago in 1982
and was a caricature artist/entertainer in the Chicago area for nearly 30
years. After surviving an accident on Ind. 49 on Nov. 5, 2008, he bravely
fought through 20 surgeries with humor and incredible strength.
Complications from the injuries sustained in the accident finally took his
life.
A Celebration of Life service, handled by the Chicagoland entertainment
industry, was held in Roselle, Ill., on Wednesday, August 11. Private family
services were held on Sunday, August 15.
