Former Chesterton resident Billy G. Oliver Sr. of Knox, Ind. died Monday,
March 15, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Valparaiso. He was 71.
He had been a resident of Knox for the past six years and previously lived
in Medaryville and in Chesterton. He was a retired heavy equipment operator
and truck driver, an avid hunter, and former member of the Indiana National
Guard. He also enjoyed raising livestock.
He is survived by sons Randy J. Oliver (wife Beth) of Valparaiso, William D.
Oliver (Kim) of Mill Creek, Timothy G. Oliver (Kathy) of Edwardsburg, Mich.,
George T. Oliver (Jacqueline) of Oakgrove, Ky., and Billy G. Oliver Jr. of
Knox; daughters Emma M. Loy (husband James) of Valparaiso, Stacy A. Cooper
(Jesse) of Michigan City, and Tabitha G. Oliver of Knox; 17 grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren; sister Bonnie Oliver-Altman (Leroy) of
Medaryville; and brother Virgil Oliver (Karen) of Medaryville.
He was preceded in death by parents George W. and Lillie Joseph Oliver;
brothers Clay Howard, Bert Oliver, Kenneth Oliver, and George Oliver Jr.;
and sister Disie Oliver-Mize.
Funeral services will be held at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in
Medaryville on Wednesday at 2 p.m. EDT. Burial will take place in the White
Post Cemetery in Medaryville. Visitation will be after noon EDT on Wednesday
at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel. Memorial contributions may be
