Salvador Ochoa, the father of a Chesterton resident, died Tuesday, Dec. 1,
at LaPorte Hospital. A resident of LaPorte, he was 93.
He was born in 1916 on the Hacienda de La Luz in the State of Michoacan,
Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Araselia (Vega); and his son, Salvador
Ochoa Jr.
He is survived by a son, David (Joanne) Ochoa of Chesterton; three
grandchildren, Marya (Neil) Shoemaker of Liberty Township, Kristin (Jeffrey)
Whitfield of Chesterton, and Nathan (Tracey) Ochoa of Chesterton; seven
great-grandchildren, Drew, Trevor, Cathryn, Conner, Chad, Hayden, and Haley;
and nieces, Alice Bonilla of East Chicago, Olga Gonzalez of Highland, and
Sally Salgado of New Mexico.
Salvador worked for over 35 years as a millwright and pipe fitter at Inland
Steel, retiring in 1969. He was an avid outdoor sportsman and enjoyed the
company of his grandchildren.
Funeral services, Father James Meade officiating, are scheduled for 12 p.m.
Friday, Dec. 4, at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. Second St. in Chesterton.
Interment will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of
service at White-Love.
