Liberty Township resident George “Wally” Musgrave, 78, died Thursday, Nov.
19, 2009, at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart.
He was born April 21, 1931, in Gary, the son of George T. and Mabel P. (Weck)
Musgrave, who preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Edna Cotton Musgrave.
He is survived by a son, Jody (Linda) Musgrave of Liberty Township;
grandchildren, AnnaRose and Joseph Musgrave of Liberty Township; a 40-year
friend, business partner, and caregiver, Glenn Wiles of Liberty Township;
and siblings, James and Jack Musgrave of Chesterton, Mary Kirby of
Wisconsin, Laura Jean Clemens of Chesterton, and Jan Rippe of Wanatah.
He was preceded in death by brothers Cleon, Richard, and Jerry Musgrave; and
sisters Norma, Judy, and Marcella (Sally).
Wally was co-owner of Country Lane Flowers in Liberty Township and retired
from LTV Steel with 30 years of services. He was a member of the United
Steelworkers Local 1011. He also served in Japan with the U.S. Army and
belonged to Chesterton American Legion Post 170, where he was a past
officer. Wally had a love for nursing orphaned baby animals and once nursed
five fawns to health.
Funeral services, Pastor Michael Little, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday,
Nov. 24, at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. Second St. in Chesterton, with
burial at Chesterton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, and from 2
to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at White-Love, with an American Legion memorial
service at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
