Chesterton resident Carl John Olson, 94, died Saturday, July 4, 2009, at his
home.
He was born Feb. 11, 1915, in Chesterton, the son of John August and Anna
Mathilda (Hultberg) Olson, who preceded him in death.
On March 22, 1952, in Chesterton, he married Marjorie Ann Widmark, who
preceded him in death on July 17, 2007.
He is survived by two daughters, Beverly (John) Puller of Chesterton and
Carol A. O’Dell of Valparaiso; two grandchildren, Katrina (Ray) Major and
Kristina (Shawn) Simons, both of Valparaiso; five great-grandchildren, Megan
and Micah Simons and Madison, Mackenzie, and Miranda Major.
Carl was preceded in death by six siblings, Astrid Nisle, Emil Olson, Alvar
Olson, Glenn Olson, Robert Olson, and Walfred Olson.
Carl attended Jackson Township High School and graduated from Liberty
Township High School. He was a dairy farmer in Jackson Township for most of
his life, having semi-retired in 1976, and belonged to the Pure Milk
Association and the Porter County Farm Bureau. He attended Liberty Bible
Church for 40 years and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and
great-grandfather.
Funeral services, Pastor Mike Sutton officiating, are scheduled for 2 p.m.
Wednesday, July 8, from Liberty Bible Church at 624 N. Calumet Ave. Burial
will be at Chesterton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White-Love
Funeral Home, 525 S. Second St.
