Chesterton resident Robert L. Allshouse died Wednesday, Feb.
4, 2009, at the Waters of Duneland Health Care Center in Chesterton. He was
95.
Born on July 18, 1913 in Youngstown, Ohio, he was the son of
George and Cora (Baker) Allshouse. In 1935 in Sharon, Penn., he married Eva
Rainey, who survives in Chesterton.
He is also survived by sons James R. Allshouse of Ft. Mohave,
Ariz. and William H. Allshouse of Denver, Colo.; daughter Carole J.
Frankenfield (husband Roy) of Omstead Falls, Ohio; sister Kathleen
Longoria of Texas; grandchildren Brent A. Allshouse (wife Jamie), Bill
Allshouse (Darcy), Brian Allshouse (Heidi), Brad Allshouse (Joanna), Linda
Waldo (Bruce), Nancy Beckley (Brian), Susan Quinn (Bob), Debbie Tarkane
(Mike), Bob A. Allshouse (Sandy), Kathy Ferguson (Charlie), Ed Cray
(Brenda), and David Cray (Sue).
He
was preceded in death by his parents, son Robert J. Allshouse, four brothers
and two sisters.
Robert worked at U.S. Steel, retiring in 1972. After
retirement, he was a successful entrepreneur in a Canadian restaurant
business and the Portage Diary Dip. He was a charter member of the
Chesterton Moose Lodge #1623 and a loving husband, father and grandfather
who will be missed dearly.
Funeral
services will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Edmonds & Evans
Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Visitation will be on Friday from 11
a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will
be in Chesterton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer
