Robert McGrew dies at 79

Robert B. McGrew, 79, of Chesterton and Lake Station, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009.

He was born February 21, 1930 in Gary the son of James and Inez (Rockenstein) McGrew, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Derek (Danielle) McGrew of Noblesville and Craig McGrew of Lafayette, Ind.; one daughter, Bethany McGrew of Valparaiso; one brother, James McGrew of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Mary Alice Eckert of Jensen Beach, Fla. and three grandchildren, Bailly, Madison and Maximus McGrew.

Robert graduated from Gary Wirt High School, attended Louisiana Tech and served in the National Guard and the Air Force. He had been an Operating Engineer with Local 150 for over 50 years and was a Shriner with the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine.

A funeral service, Pastor Dan Bontrager officiating, will be at 6 p.m. Friday, July 31 following visitation from 4-6 p.m. at Moeller Funeral home, Valparaiso. Cremation will follow at Angelcrest Crematory.
