Rex Fred Mitchell dies at 51

Rex Fred Mitchell, of Valparaiso, formerly of Chesterton, passed away Saturday evening, March 7, 2009 at VNA Hospice Center, Valparaiso. He was 51.

He was born June 22, 1957 in Evansville.

On Dec. 1, 1979 in Chesterton, he married Karen S. Redner, who survives in Valparaiso.

He is also survived by daughters, Jill (Brooks) Sayer, of Logansport, Kimberly Mitchell, of Valparaiso; mother, Eileen (Kuhn) Mitchell, of Valparaiso, formerly of Chesterton; a sister, Becky (Lee) Childress, of Valparaiso; brother, Dan Mitchell, of Valparaiso.

He was preceded in death by his father Pastor Rex M. Mitchell.

Fred was a member and Pastor of Kingsford Heights Wesleyan Church in Kingsford Heights. He was a former employee of Midwest Steel Co. where he was an electrician, with 28 years service. He was a 1975 graduate of Chesterton High School.

Funeral services, Pastor Mike Cloud officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 11 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St. Chesterton. Private family interment will follow the service.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 at White-Love Funeral Home.

The family prefers memorials be given to VNA Hospice Center, 501 Marquette St. Valparaiso, IN 46383, or to the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
