Ralph Schweizer dies at 78

Former Chesterton resident Ralph E. (Gene) Schweizer died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was 78.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carlin of Aransas Pass, Texas; two sons, Ralph (Martha) Schweizer of Valparaiso and Michael (Donna) Schweizer of Chino Hills, Calif.; five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Stephen Howell, Lauren and Daniel Bunnell, and Stephanie Roberts; a great-grandson, Carson Bryant; two brothers, Richard Schweizer of South Bend and James (Vivian) Schweizer of Union Mills, Ind.; a sister, Avon Dillaway of LaPorte; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ralph retired from Gary Slag in 1979 and moved to Ingleside, Texas.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at the Greenwood Cemetery Chapel in Michigan City.
