Phyllis Eberhardt Mitchell, a former Porter resident, died Sunday, Dec. 17,
2009. A resident of Sherman, Ill., she was 80.
She was born July 12, 1929, in Elwood, Ind., the daughter of Henry and Roxa
“Lucille” Hodge, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her companion, Erinie Powder; two sons, Dennis Eberhardt
and Thomas (Janet) Eberhardt, both of Springfield, Ill.; two daughters, Pam
(Chuck) Frencl of Porter and Roxanne (Garry) Fisher of Lenzlung, Ill.; two
brothers, Thomas (Iris) Hodge of Indiana and Terry Hodge of Georgia; seven
grandchildren, Jim (Kelly) Frencl of Chesterton, Tony (Tonya) Frencl of
Hebron, Melissa (Jason) Casbon of Valparaiso, Nathan (Jessica) Eberhardt of
Denver, Colo., Stephanie (Ryan) Preitt of North Carolina, Mike (Carrie)
Fisher of Freeburg, Ill., and Christopher Fisher of New Athens, Ill.; and 12
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Hodge.
Phyllis, formerly a resident of Lake Station and Porter, was a member of the
New Life Wesleyan Church in Chesterton and the Midwest Steel Retirement
Club.
Funeral services, Pastor Allen Wright officiating, are scheduled for 10 a.m.
Thursday, Dec. 31, at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. in
Portage. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery in Portage.
Visition is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Rees Funeral
Home, Olson Chapel.
