Philip Dickerman dies at 75

Philip J. Dickerman, 75, of Beverly Shores, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 8:55 a.m. in his home.

He was born February 5, 1934 in Chicago, Ill.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Murphy Dickerman of Beverly Shores; Children, Colin (Shayda) Dickerman of Black Oak, Jeff Dickerman of Munster, Justin (Cindy) Murphy of Hammond, Angelique Murphy of Oak Park, Ill., Lester (Colleen) Murphy of Montague, N.J., Christopher Murphy of Crown Point, Colleen (Gary) Murphy-Dunning of New Haven, Conn., Bridget Murphy of Oak Park, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two Cousins, Paul Tobin of Louisiana, and Jerome (Teresa) Tobin of Fla.

He was a member of St. Ann of the Dunes Catholic Church, Past member of the board of directors Association of Beverly Shores, founder and Immediate Past President of the Beverly Shores Environmental Restoration Group. He served for many years as President for the Town of Beverly Shores zoning appeals. He received his master's degree from the University of Notre Dame, and was a retired Physicist. In his youth he was a gifted pianist winning numerous awards and was an avid golfer belonging to the United States Golf Association, and a loyal Notre Dame Irish fan.

Memorial mass, the Rev. John Barasinski, officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 at St. Ann of the Dunes Catholic Church, 433 East Golfwood Road, Beverly Shores. Cremation will follow services.

Family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. till the time of Mass at St. Ann of the Dunes Catholic Church.
