Paul Demkovich, formerly of Beverly Shores, died in the
company of family on February 3, 2009.
He was born November 19, 1922.
He is survived by his wife Margaret; son Richard (Marsha) of
Dune Acres; son, Paul (Sheila) of Naples, Fla.; son John (Jack) (Tara) of
Algonquin, Ill.; daughter, Kathy Momcilovich (Mike) of Schererville,
daughter, Marcia Rex (Bill) of Brownsburg; sisters, Marie Cuculic (Larry) of
Tucson, Ariz., Ann Matura (John) of Whiting and Agnes Wintzak of Whiting,
and fifteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Paul attended Whiting High School and graduated as a
salutatorian in 1941. He served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater, and
after the war was a member of the Navy Reserve until his retirement as a
Lieutenant Commander.
He received AS, BS and MS degrees in Chemistry from the
University of Chicago, and was employed by Standard Oil of Indiana until his
retirement in 1985.
For many years he had a home in Beverly Shores, and more
recently in Naples, Fla. and in Schererville, Ind.
Paul will be missed by all who knew him, as a man of
integrity and worth, a man with a strong sense of duty and love for his
family, his friends, his church and his country, and as a man who
appreciated a good joke and a fine wine.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas More Church in
Munster, Indiana, at 10 a.m. Friday, February 13.
Interment will be at Calumet Park Cemetery following the funeral
mass.
Visitation will be at Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet
Ave. in Munster, (836-5000) on Thursday, February 12, from 4 to 7 pm.
