Patricia “Patsy” Villanueva of Jackson Township died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. She was 60.

 Born June 9, 1948, she was the daughter of John and Anne Demo, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother Marco Demo.

She is survived by husband, Nicholas Villanueva, Sr.; daughter Nicole Scott (husband David); son Nicholas Villanueva, Jr.;  sisters Mitzi Mayersky (Leonard), Maryanne Beno, and Dorothy Maroulis; brothers Joseph Demo (wife Mary) and Paul Demo (Linda); and many extended family members and friends.

She graduated from Horace Mann High School in Gary in the class of 1967. She was active in parent-teacher organizations in the Duneland School system while her children were in attendance and also often served as precinct committee woman in Jackson Township. She was also passionately involved with St. Patrick Church, where she was known as the “Grotto Lady” for her dedicated volunteer service to the restoration and daily maintenance of the Grotto.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 2, with  a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. A funeral mass, with Father James Meade officiating, will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd. in Chesterton on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. Cremation will take place at Heritage Crematory in Portage.
