Martha Goble dies at 91

Chesterton resident Martha Goble, 91, died on Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus.

She was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Fort Worth, Texas, the daughter of William T. and Rubye (Atwood) Mason, who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Goble, in 1995; and by a brother, Winston Mason.

She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Vann of Paw Paw, Mich., Carol (Donald) Hetzler of San Antonio, Texas, and Susan Glick of Chesterton; grandchildren, Kriss DeJong, Keith (Sharon) Van, and Judi (Daniel) Boone; and great-grandchildren, Nichole and Sean.

She worked as an executive secretary for Franklin Supply until her retirement in 1983 and enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading.

A memorial service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway in Chesterton.

A memorial visitation is scheduled for 3 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at Edmonds & Evans.

Cremation will be conducted at Cremation Heritage Crematory in Portage.

Memorials may be made to the Westchester Neighbors Food Pantry.
