Marie Robinson, 57, of Chesterton, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at
St. Anthony Hospital, Crown Point.
She was born April 20, 1951 in Megalopolis, Greece the daughter of Asimakis
Kontantakis and Kaleroy Kontantakis.
She is survived by her mother Kaleroy; six children, Aaron (Tricia)
Robinson, Eric (Amy) Robinson, Nathan Robinson Jason Robinson and Justin
Robinson, all of Chesterton, and Carrie Robinson of Chicago; sisters, Helen
(Leo) Laspas of Crown Point and Irene (George) Gazos of East Lansing, Mich.;
grandchildren, Avary and Kassidy Robinson of Chesterton and a multitude of
nephews and nieces.
Marie, born in Megalopolis, Greece, a small village two hours southwest of
Athens, immigrated to the United States at the age of seven to Gary, where
she grew up and started her own family. She enjoyed the rest of her life in
Chesterton.
She spent most of her life doing what she loved most, spending time with
children. She spent the majority of her years raising six loving children as
a homemaker. Once her own children were grown, she provided childcare to the
multitude of children who were all very fond of her. She was active in many
community clubs, such as the Corvette Club and the Singles Ministry at
Liberty Bible Church. She also enjoyed woodworking, crafts, and antiques,
attending many craft shows. She enjoyed the arts, attending many plays and
musicals, both in Porter County as well as in Chicago.
Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at Burns Funeral
Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point. Interment will be at Angel Crest Cemetery
in Valparaiso.
Friends may visit the family on Friday, March 13 from 2-8 p.m. at Burns
Funeral Home, Crown Point.
