Maria Barbosa Rodriguez, 50, died on August 19, 2009.

She was born on September 28, 1958 in Pajacuaran, Mexico to Ignacio and Raquel Macias.

She is survived by her father Ignacio Macias, brothers Gerardo and Ignacio, sister Raquel, and three sons Jaime Antonio, Alfredo David and Eduardo David Rodriguez.

Maria completed her Bachelors at Roosevelt University and received her Masters in Education from Purdue University. Maria taught at Yost Elementary in Chesterton, for over 16 years, touching the lives of countless students and people of the community. Her great love of the human story was reflected by her desire to travel the world, experiencing life through her enjoyment of food and culture. She enjoyed being active, sewing, reading, listening to music, giving love to her dogs, and sharing with friends and family. A loving, doting mother of three and sister to many, she always found time to lend her energy toward leaving the world a better place than she found it. In her compassion, her family found a home. In her smile, a respite from the rest of the world.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2009 from 1 until 4 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Services will begin at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. www.ee-fh.com
