Lena Kathryn Manno dies at 82

Lena (Kay) Kathryn Manno, of Chesterton, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Porter Hospital Valparaiso Campus. She was 82.

She was born on February 3, 1927 in Omaha, Ill. the daughter of Edward J. and Dorothy F. (Lewis) Gerst, both of whom preceded her in death.

In Chicago, on January 27, 1951 she married Charles Manno who preceded her on August 26, 2003.

Kay is survived by a son, Charles (Shirley) Manno of League City, Texas; daughters, Linda Corbett of Lansing, Ill., Sherry (Ray) Marcotte of Valparaiso, Angela Manno (Gerry Gonnella) of Valparaiso, and Debra (Emerson) DeLaney of Chesterton; 11 grandchildren, Ashley Corbett, Matt (Jamie), Brian (Evelyn), Shannon Marcotte, Jeremy Fedorenko, Chris Steiger, Joey Manno, Ed, Steve, Nick and Sean DeLaney, and five great grandchildren.

Kay was also preceded in death by a sister, Ellen McLaughlin and grandson, Jason Marcotte.

She worked as a proof supervisor for Continental Bank. She was a wildlife lover and she loved her grandchildren and her animals.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 2, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.

A visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, March 1 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Porter County Wildlife Management.
