Keith Valpatic service set

Valparaiso resident Keith A. Valpatic died Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Porter Hospital. He was 61.

Born July 6, 1948 in Valparaiso, he was the son of Anton and Rose (Nelson) Valpatic. He graduated from Chesterton High School in 1966, received his B.A. in Business Management from Purdue and his M.B.A. from Indiana University. He worked in the coke ovens for 39 years and most recently was the coke oven mechanical maintenance manager at Arcelor Mittal Steel. Keith will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his love of family. Keith was a kind, hard working and gentle person.

On June 19, 1970 in Valparaiso he married Diane Louden, who survives. Also surviving are children Brian Scott (wife Christina) Valpatic and Jennifer Ray (husband Jeff), all of Valparaiso; his mother, Rose Valpatic of Valparaiso; brother, Dennis Hood (Connie) of Elgin, Ill.; and one grandson, Jacob Andrew Ray. He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Augsburg Lutheran Church in Porter, with Rev. Erik Bernth officiating. Burial will follow at Augsburg Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Augsburg Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
