Judith Marie Brooks, of Chesterton, passed away Tuesday,
January 27, 2009 at Hospice of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio. She was 80.
She was born December 20, 1928 in Chesterton the daughter of
Walter R. and Clara (Kath) Ciss, both of whom preceded her in death.
Judy is survived by four children, Christopher L. Brooks, of
Marietta, Ga., Jennifer B. (Art) Nash, of Charlevoix, Mich., Melissa A.
(Chuck) Johnson, of Loveland, Ohio, Matthew A. Brooks, of Chesterton. She is
also survived by former husband and father of her children, Chad Brooks, of
Porter; five grandchildren, Hannah Ruth Kirk, Paul Daniel Brooks, Kirk Derek
Nash, Nicholas Cole Johnson and Nathan Thomas Johnson.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Janet McGroarty.
Judy was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Chesterton
and was a Stephens Minister of the Church. She was a member of Order of
Eastern Star, V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary and Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She
retired from the Duneland School Corp. where she was an elementary teacher.
She was a graduate of Purdue University with a bachelors degree in
education.
Funeral services, Pastor Jane L. Aicher officiating, will be
at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050 W. 1100N.
Chesterton. Interment will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30
at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton and Saturday from 9
a.m. until time of service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
