Josephine L. Miller dies at 92

Josephine L. Miller, of Chesterton, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2008 in Chesterton. She was 92.

She was born February 11, 1916 in Pella, Iowa, the daughter of Price George and Alice Boyd Thompson, both of whom preceded her in death.

On July 1, 1941 she married Clarence Miller, who preceded her in death.

Josephine is survived by 8 children, Price (Mylin) Miller, Fayettville, Ga., Alice (Dan) Willett, of Chesterton, Tom “Craig” Miller, of Chesterton, Brian Miller (Jim Logan) of Cedarburg, Wis., Joseph Miller, Boulder City, Nev., Michael (Jacquelyn) Miller, of Griffith, Mary (Ron) Sunderman, of Naperville, Ill. and Mark Miller (Dan Brown) of Fennville, Mich.; 2 step-children, Shirley Jurgenson, of Essex, Md., Clarence Miller, Jr., of Westminister, Md.; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and 1 sister, Eleanor Schumacher, of West Des Moines, Iowa.

She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Denise Miller; sister, Mary Alice Ryan and 2 step-children, Charles Miller and Peggy Coen.

Josephine was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Chesterton. She was a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines, Iowa. She was blessed with many artistic qualities including painting, drawing, writing beautiful poems, playing the piano and she had a beautiful singing voice. She was an avid reader.

A Mass of Christian Burial, Fr. James Meade officiating, will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to St. Patrick Church Building Fund, 638 N. Calumet Road, Chesterton, IN 46304 or to VNA Hospice Program, 501 Marquette St., Valparaiso, IN 46383.
