Joan Gordon Beck, 76, of Palm Harbor, Fla. passed away March 31, 2009.

She was born March 27, 1933 in Gary, Ind.

She is survived by John, her husband of 54 years.

She is also survived by a daughter, Susan Gintert, son John M. Beck; five grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Clayton of Beverly Hills, Fla. and Judy Fott, of Hamil, S.D. and a brother, Eugene Gordon, of White Hills, Ariz.

Joan graduated from St. Mary Mercy Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1954. She married her high school sweetheart, John Patrick Beck and moved to Connecticut in 1955. Joan had a passion for nursing and her career spanned 35 years in the Hartford, Conn. area. They moved to Melbourne, Fla. in 1990 and settled in Palm Harbor in 2001. Joan was very outgoing and took pleasure in the art of conversation and cultivating friendships. She loved travel, especially via caravan trips with the Airstream Wally Byam Club, and with the Family Motor Coach Association. She was an avid gardener, golfer, bridge player and she enjoyed many arts and crafts, but nothing could compare with her love of an interest in her family.

Memorial services will be held April 25 at 2 p.m. at the Moss Feaster Funeral Home in Palm Harbor. Donations may be made to the Hospice foundation of the Florida Suncoast.
