Emily Danko died Saturday, August 29, 2009. She was 84.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ernest Danko; children Diane
Gora (husband Chuck) and David Danko (wife Marian) of Chesterton;
grandchildren David Danko (Katie), Charlie Gora (Kim), Natalie Rodriguez
(Dave), Katie Gora, Kara Gora, Courtney Danko, and Michael Gora;
great-grandchildren Dylan Rodriguez, Ella Rodriguez, Jack Rodriguez, and
Drew Danko-Torres.
She was preceded in death by her brother John and son “little” Ernie.
Known to her friends and family as “Bette,” Emily was active in the Holy
Roman Catholic Church, serving for many years as an Eucharistic Minister and
liturgist. She shared her love of the Lord with all she knew and encouraged
others in their journey to develop a relationship with God. Married for 52
years, Bette and her husband provided an unparalleled example of love, trust
and partnership. After retirement, they spent countless hours with
grandchildren guiding, teaching and setting an example of true love and
generosity. An occasional jokester, Bette was once known to have covered dog
biscuits with chocolate and served the treats to her older brother.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit
Catholic Church, 7667 E. 109th Ave., Crown Point, with Rev. Joseph Murphy
officiating. She will lie in state at the church from 9:30 a.m. unitl the
time of service. She will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in
Schererville. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Solan Pruzin
Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville.
