Dorothy Thomas dies at 78

Dorothy A. Thomas, age 78, of Valparaiso, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2009 at her residence. 

She was born on December 6, 1930 in Lake Station, to Herman and Emily (Reich) Novak, both of whom preceded her in death. On November 13, 1948 in Princeton, she married Eugene “Tim” Thomas, who survives in Valparaiso.

Dorothy is survived by a son James Thomas of Union Mills, a daughter Karen (Bill) Radiger of Chesterton; brothers; Richard (Diane) Novak of LaPorte, Ronald Novak of Hammond, La., Clarence (Judy) Novak of LaPorte; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. 

She was also preceded in death by a son Kenneth Thomas; a brother Leonard Novak and a sister, Lottie Swenson.

A funeral mass, Fr. Doug Mayer officiating, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 31, at Our Lady Of Sorrows Parish, 356 W. 700 N. Valparaiso. Cremation will follow services at Heritage Crematory, Portage. 

A visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, January 30, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice of Porter County.
