Doris (Collins) Haddox, 78, of Caldwell Texas, formerly of Chesterton,
passed away on August 12, 2009 at her home in Caldwell.
Doris was born on January 17, 1931 in Village Mills, Texas, the daughter of
Gabe Collins and Susie Williford Collins, both of whom preceded her in
death.
On October 6, 1950 in Koutze, Texas she married Billy Joe Haddox, who
survives in Caldwell.
She is survived also by sons Billy P. (Sue) Haddox, of Caldwell and Robin
Haddox of Portage, Ind., Randy Haddox of Plano, Texas; daughter, Sheila
Thompson of Louisville, Ky.; brother, Earl Denver (Jackie) Collins; sister,
LouDell Freeman; grandchildren, Mary Beth (Brian) McCarthy; Billy Joe (Joelle)
Haddox; Parrish, Lauren, Sara, Jacob, and Megan Haddox, Matthew and Scott
Haddox, Abby and Andrew Thompson and great-grandson, James Parrish Haddox
McCarthy.
Doris loved the outdoors. She loved to spend time in her garden and enjoyed
spending time with her grandchildren. Doris always put others first.
Funeral services, Rev. Henry Beseda officiating, will be at 10 a.m., Friday,
August 14, at the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will follow at
the Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell under the care and direction of Strickland
Funeral Home, 530 Highway 36 S., Caldwell, Texas 77836, (979) 567-1900.
A visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13 at Strickland Funeral
Home.
