Deborah E. Reed (nee: Rose) of Portage, passed away Thursday, August 13,
2009 at her home.
She was born September 18, 1952 in Wilmington, Del. the daughter of Donald
and Mildred (Read) Rose, both of whom preceded her in death.
On April 1, 1972 in Gary, she married Ronald A. Reed, who survives in
Portage.
She is also survived by two sons, Ronald A. (Jaime) Reed, Jr. of Chesterton
and Timothy Reed, of Portage; two grandchildren, Justin and Jenna Reed; one
sister, Cathy (Charles) Vandenburgh, of Portage; two brothers, Donald Rose,
Jr. of Portage, James Rose, of Valparaiso, mother-in-law, LaVonne Haker, of
Alamont, Ill.; brother-in-law, Bill (Diane) Reed, of Chesterton;
sister-in-law, Sandra (Morris) Russell, of Lavergne, Tenn. and numerous
nieces, nephews and friends.
Debbie was a 1970 graduate of Portage High School. She was past Honor Queen
of Job’s Daughters, Chesterton and a member of the Portage Democratic Club.
She was D.C.P. Supervisor at Opportunity Enterprises in Valparaiso. Much of
Debbie’s life was spent working with handicapped and disabled people.
Funeral services, Pastor Bob Burton officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Monday,
Aug. 17 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. Interment
will follow at McCool Cemetery, Portage.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16 at White-Love
Funeral Home.
