Christian Vincent Kratowicz dies at 32

Christian Vincent Kratowicz, 32, of Cosby, Tenn., formerly of Chesterton, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2009.

Survivors include his soul mate of nine years, Christy McGaha; son, Kamden Kratowicz, and daughter, Lauren McGaha, all of the home; parents, Jerry and Shelia Kratowicz, of Blum, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Buddy Shepard, of Blum, Texas; grandparents, Rudolph and Alice Wegert, of Poynette, Wis.

Additional survivors include several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Margaret and Vincent Kratowicz, and great-grandmothers, Agnes Hoskins and Florence White.

Christian was a 1995 graduate of Chesterton High School, and later served as assistant Wrestling Coach.

He attended Purdue University in West Lafayette and two years at the University of Wisconsin where he received a full wrestling scholarship.

In 2004, he received his degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana University Northwest.

Beginning at the age of 6, he became involved in freestyle wrestling and continued in the sport for 20 years. 

He was a rafting guide on the Pigeon River for over 10 years and met his soul mate, Christy, in Tennessee. He was employed at Westgate Resorts in Gatlinburg, Tenn., where he was top salesman for five years.

He was of the Baptist faith; he professed his date of salvation as July 12, 1982.

Following cremation provided by Costner-Maloy, a memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, February 19, at Garvers Chapel Baptist Church with Rudy Wegert III officiating.
