Beatrice Brown dies at 78

Beatrice L. Brown, 78, of Portage, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009 at her home.

She was born August 15, 1930 in Maryville, Tenn. to James and Mamie (Drake) Wolfe, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was married to George Brown, who preceded her in death on September 7, 1992.

Beatrice is survived by six children, James (Christine) Brown of Maryville, Tenn., Johnny (Kimberly) Brown of Portage, Debra Jarosak (James Martin) of Portage, Diane (Ross) Young of Chesterton, Donna (Randy) Leggett of Portage, and Doreen Whitty (Chris Kozub) of Bass Lake; brother, Harold (Charlotte) Wolfe of Greenback, Tenn.; sisters, Charlotte Millsap of Powder Springs, Ga. and Elsie (Glen) Hunt of Miser Station, Tenn.; grandchildren, Christy Cullins, Chas (Chris) Pratts, Specialist Christopher (Nanda) Moutaw, Kami Brown (Ryan Foreman), Randi Leggett (Mark Riley), Specialist Jessica Moutaw, Jeremy Leggett, Amanda Jarosak (Bob Gaffin), Alicia Jarosak (Joseph Arnold), Olivia (Tony) Torres and Joni Brown; great grandchildren, Brittani Cullins, Taylor, Tanner and Cameron Pratts, Addison Gaffin, Little John, and Baby Torres on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Brown; brother, J.L. Wolfe; and sister in law, Alice Ruth Wolfe.

Beatrice was an area resident for nearly 50 years, coming from Tennessee, and a member of Grace Baptist Church. Beatrice loved her family and her church.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Portage.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 5 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 5785 Mulberry Ave., Portage.
