William Daniel Poparad dies at 48

William Daniel Poparad, of Chesterton, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at his home following a long and courageous battle with pulmonary hypertension. He was 48.

He was born Nov. 23, 1959 in Gary, the son of Emil and Sylvia (Johnson) Poparad, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Politano) Poparad of Chesterton.

He is also survived by a son, Edward (Leslie) Poparad, of San Antonio, Texas; step-daughter, Destini Faulkner, of Jacksonville, N.C.; step-sons, Joseph and Jacob Eppolito, both of Chesterton; step-grandson Ryder Eppolito; sister, Marlene (Wally) Knapp, of Chesterton; brothers, Robert (Maria) Poparad, Raymond (Linda) Poparad, both of Chesterton; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Joan Politano, of Chesterton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph Politano, Bill Politano, Mary and Bill Branham, Bob Politano, Patti and Brad Decker, all of Chesterton and Kathleen and Mark Jennings, of Springfield, Va. He was loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Bill was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Chesterton, and a member of Indiana Carpenter’s Local 599, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Chesterton Moose Lodge #1623 and The Sons of American Legion. Brother Poparad was a member of Calumet Masonic Lodge #379 of Chesterton, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of South Bend and The Shriners of North America. He was an avid NASCAR fan, he enjoyed life and brought laughter to all who knew him.

Funeral services, Pastor Jane Aicher officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050 W. 1100 N Chesterton. Interment will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. Friday, at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 Second St. Calumet Masonic Lodge #379. Calumet Masonic Lodge #379 will have a memorial service Friday at 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to VNA Hospice Care, or to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Building Fund.
