Robert 'Bob' E. Murphy dies at 49

Robert “Bob” E. Murphy, of Jackson Twp., passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008. He was 49.

On Aug. 19, 1978 in Highland he married Tami Cheney who survives in Jackson Twp.

He is also survived by children, Chad (Denise) Murphy of McKinney, Texas, Brianne (Kevin O’Hare) Murphy of Chesterton, Andrew (Cassi Oost) Murphy of Portage and Robbie Murphy of Jackson Twp.; grandchildren, Jarett, Ian, Nick, MacKenzie, Jaden and Colton Abraham; mother, Evelyn Murphy, of Merrillville; a sister, Becky (Mike) Rich of Crown Point; a brother, Danny Murphy of Fresno, Calif. and a sister, Wanda (Bob) Nanny of Portage; father and mother in-laws, Don and Shirley Cheney of Highland; brother-in-law, Don (Kim) Cheney of Oklahoma; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

He was employed at Arcelor-Mittal Steel in Burns Harbor, where he was a Roll Coordinator. He was an avid golfer and achieved an Ace in 2005; he enjoyed coaching many teams for his sons over the years. He especially loved spoiling his only daughter.

Funeral services, Pastor Cort Bucher officiating, were at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21 at Liberty Bible Church, 824 N. Calumet Ave., Chesterton. Interment was at Angel Crest Cemetery.

The family received friends Sunday at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton and an hour before the service at Liberty Bible Church.

Memorials may be given to an Educational Fund being established for his son Robbie.
