Maudie E. Everett dies at 74

Maudie E. Everett, of Porter, passed away February 1, 2008, at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus, Valparaiso. She was 74.

She was born Sept. 11, 1933 the daughter of John Henry and Nellie (Huff) Swafford, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death in 1991 by her husband Clarence Everett.

She is survived by two sons, Eugene (Karen) Everett, of Las Vegas, Nev. and Michael (Sherry) Everett, of Michigan City; nine grandchildren, Lisa, Christopher, Kelly and Scott Everett, Heather Bruce, Jennifer, Samantha, Cody and Jordan Everett; two brothers, Paul Swafford, of Ark., Charles Swafford, of Mich. and sister Dorothy Mae Holifield of Mich.

Maudie was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was a visiting nurse in Porter County, working for VNA. She loved feeding and watching humming birds and collecting figurines of them. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family.

Funeral services, Fr. Lawrence Heeg officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton.
