Loretta M. Brooks dies at 88

Loretta M. Brooks, of Chesterton, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Valparaiso Care and Rehabilitation Center, Valparaiso. She was 88.

She was born April 1, 1920 in Chicago, the daughter of Richard and Margaret (O’Hara) Coleman, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was married to Marvin Brooks, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by a daughter, Beverly (David) Stegeman, of Chesterton; grandchildren, John (Josephine) Stegeman, of Bolingbrook, Ill.; Carolyn Stegeman, of Rockford, Ill., and Mike (Vicky) Stegeman, of Chesterton; great-grandchildren, Purity, David, Matthew, Amber and Bronson Stegeman; sisters-in-law, Deloris Brooks, of Chesterton, Mae Brooks, of Lenoir, N.C. and Mary Coleman, of Chesterton.

Loretta was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Chesterton, and was owner/operator of Loretta’s Beauty Shop in Chesterton for over 50 years.

Funeral services, Pastor Jane L. Aicher officiating, will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 21 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050 W. 1100N, Chesterton. Interment will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until time of service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in memory of Loretta.
