John C. Wight, of Chesterton, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008 at VNA Horton
Hospice Center, Valparaiso. He was 63.
He was born Sept. 6, 1944 in Escabana, Mich., the son of Charles Edward and
Ethel Marie (Ekstrom) Wight, both of whom preceded him in death.
On Jan. 24, 2008 he was preceded in death by his wife Betty L. Wight.
He is survived by three children, Linda (Mark) Bavido of Texas, Karl
(Elizabeth) Wight of Valparaiso and Wendy (Art) Coleman of Michigan City;
step-children, Diana Klecka of Westville, Ronald C. Piers, of Indianapolis,
Michael D. (Dawn) Piers, of Fla., Anna (Victor) Kadish of Westville, Vincent
Piers of Hobart and Gerald (Amy) Piers of Valparaiso; one brother, Robert
(Marilyn) Wight, Escabana, Mich.; many grandchildren and numerous
great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by siblings, Carl, Clyde, Dick and Elizabeth
and a step-son, Brian Piers on June 12, 1999.
John was employed as a Merchant-Seaman on the Great Lakes, being employed
with Inland Steel Co.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 18 at
White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. An additional visitation
and funeral service is scheduled Saturday, June 21 in Escabana, Mich.
